Caption: The floodlit moat and outer wall around the Bishop's Palace and gardens. The Palace dates from the early thirteenth century when the first Bishop of Bath and Wells, Bishop Jocelin Trotman, received a licence to build a residence to the south of the Cathedral. The water in the moat flows from the wells from which the city derives it's name.
